A Ritual Performance by Evalajka Pervin

Step into the sacred. The Oracle from Lahore is a live ritual performance by artist Evalajka Pervin, weaving together ancestral lineage, trance states, and audience encounter.

Inspired by ancient Eastern oracles—from Delphi to the subcontinent—this piece honours a female lineage rooted in what is now Pakistan, a land once united in spiritual and cultural practice. The oracle appears as a liminal figure: outside of ordinary time, yet intimately connected to communal desire and healing.

Visitors are invited to approach the oracle with questions. A thread is tied to their wrist—binding intention into a growing web of ritual and presence in the space.

Performed in a state of trance, the oracle speaks in tongues, guided by breath, intuition, and sacred preparation. The ritual involves purification, incense, prayer, and sensory immersion, creating a space for personal inquiry, spiritual exchange, and transformation.

Sound work

Following the performance, The Oracle from Lahore was realised as an independent sound work — an uncut audio track from the live performance, existing as a voice in the basement of Lake House. Presented as part of the conceptual format HEAR-AWAY at FOYERcontemporary — a sound art format with three participating artists,

including Mads Borre and Jørgen Leth.
